looking around at window kits for my 1955 F100 and you see curved glass and flat glass items at different places, can someone help me out with what they mean by curved glass and flat glass as it relates to the doors?

Hi Wrench and welcome to FTE... you found the good place. First thing you need to do is post pictures of your truck... we like pictures. Now, glass.
Flat glass is what came stock in the truck... it fit between the latch end of the door to the division bar and ahead of that was the vent window..
curved glass is a new modification to our trucks... the division bar and vent are removed, the channel that held it all together is removed and new channel and the single pane of curved glass take it's place... It's a fairly easy installation and works well with manual or power window modifications.
Mid-50 is one supplier... here's links to their product andto the install instructions
If you are referring to the single side glass options ( eliminate vent window ) . As the vent is not inline with the main glass you need a replacement that has a curve to compensate , if you want it to be flat right though you need to modify the window opening ( cut and weld ) to make it straight .
But you really don't want to go to all that trouble, do you? The division bar gives you something to hold on to as you drive with your arm on the window sill. The wing vent directs air directly into the cab at various amounts. Or the wing vent can deflect air away from the cab depending on your needs.

Agree totally!!! Wise advice!! It should be a federal law that you cannot remove the wing window and division bar unless you have air conditioning installed and you don't have a left arm.

If you have gotten to the point that you have decided to go with a solid side window, then you are probably not going to put much weight in the discussion(s) around whether you should/should not keep your vent window. I believe that what you need at this point is some hard info on which you can make the choice between curved vs flat glass. First, the flat glass installation requires cutting and welding in the upper door opening. This work is not for the novice but if you are comfortable with cutting out the existing door window opening and welding in new pieces then go for it. The curved glass does not require this level of modification and is touted to be a better solution for those who want to retrofit doors that are already painted or for those who do not feel comfortable with the welding aspect of the flat glass. I have done both and have found issues with both. I prefer the look of the flat glass but the curved glass is also a good alternative to the vent wings. Let me know if there are any further questions that I could answer for you...good luck.

Good one , Doc! HaHa
My brother has a 68 Camaro with a 427. He's had since 1969. 68 Camaro s are very similar to 67 Camaros. One difference is that 68 Camaros didn't have wing vents. When I was a kid riding around with my brother and he would get on it, I wish I had a wing vent to hang onto! But if he was about to race some guy he made me roll up the window and close the floor vent and he would blow the guy away as my head was planted back into the seat!
