I have a 2wd 1993 ford superduty that is equipped with hydroboost 4 wheel disk brakes. The brakes work great until the ABS light comes on. The light comes on a couple minutes after I get it on the freeway. When the truck is loaded and the road is wet the front wheels will lock up and skid. It seems as if the rear brakes never get used and I am not able to lock them up under any condition. I looked around on the forms and haven't found anyone with this issue. Any one have any suggestions as to what the problem may be?
How do your rear brake pads look? Did you loosen the bleeders, step on the brake,to see if they're pumping fluid out? I almost recall seeing one of those load sensors on the rear axle but I don't seem to have a pic of it. If so,I wonder if that's gone buggy on ya,if it's only acting up when you load it.
Could just be a bad sensor. They're prone to failure due to corrosion because of their location especially on Midwest trucks that are regularly exposed to salt.
You could also try disconnecting the RABS controller behind the glove box and see if the rear brakes work correctly like a non ABS truck. Is the fluid topped off. If the master cylinder is low the light will sometimes come on. The VSS/RABS sensor is on the rear end. A friend had a load sensor on an old Suburban cause problems like this. He just bypassed it.

If the master cylinder is low, it will trigger the red "brake" light as well as the anti lock light but he only has the anti lock light.
