I am wanting to find a steering column, the style that had the gear selector pointer on the column itself, and not as part of the speedometer as my 81 has.
Then just get a little blank filler plate from a truck with a manual trans cluster, and you can remove the indicator from your existing cluster. Done like dinner.
Unless of course you are truly seeking a factory solution...
The 1975-1991 econoline vans use the same style of column as the 1980-1991 trucks but have the shift indicator on the column, because they still used the 1973-1979 truck gauge cluster. but I do not know how easy they are to swap or if you can.

1979 was the last year, but a 1970's column will not work on a 1980's truck.
