Hood assist question

'77 F250.....Anyone know if there's like a cup or something that goes in here that will guide the hood assist spring and keep it fairly straight? My old spring gets wedged under the lip of the rad support and makes it tough to open the hood also bent the spring. Got a new spring but I don't want it to get wrecked the same way.

Thanks ND for making my flat world round. Everything lines up and closes great....except that damn spring. Looks like the hood where the spring mounts is bent up alil. I think instead of beating up the nice painted hood, I'm gonna fab a tapered cup on the lathe on Monday......or get hold of one of those chevelle type pin/spring/cup deals. Bummer
