Does anyone have a link for the magnetic ones? I would prefer that over drilling, if they stay on. I would like to add these to my Platinum as well. I would even swap to the retractable running boards if I could find a reasonably priced set. I love mods like this that add utility.

cangim has them. He can comment on them. They are not cheap, handmade here in the US and seem to be well made.

I have 10, 4 under cab for bundle and 6 under beadrail, I have lost the tape mounts over time but haven’t had any of the LEDs move. All min are the Max series. I tries some other squares off amazon under bed, after a year I noticed half the LEDs where out, thus decided to bite the bullet and get the long box bed kit
I jumped the gun and ordered those harness adaptors and now when I crawled under my truck, I can't find any of the wire ends that are pictured??? Have a 2016 Lariat.

You could epoxy on some neodymium magnets (rare earth) to the back of any of them so you wouldn't have to drill or worry about the tape failing. A 1/4 x 1/4 x 1/8 thick cube magnet has a pulling force of 4lbs which should hold the LED's security in place.
Anyone considering magnet mounting might want to consider magnets will allow moisture to collect between the magnet and the steel they are attached to. This will cause increased rust and corrosion under the magnets. I had an old chevy I placed magnetic signs on the doors to advertise my business and after about a year without removing them rust was forming in the area under the magnetic signs.
Personally I would choose a 3M adhesive. I'm sure they have a double sided sticky tape that would match the width of any strip lights. Alternatively try a can of 3M spray 90 on the back side of the light strips. Don't expect easy removal in the future.
If you clean the area first and apply a bit of clear coat or even rust protection on the steel the magnet should still work and you help prevent the build up of rust from any water collection
i have a supercab and not a crew, so lighting option was never there to begin with, but the bundles of wires that run along the frame rail are still there on both sides.
If you have a moment would you be able to tell us what colour wires the harness splices into so I know what to look for?
