While one prospective buyer was crawling under my Duramax....he told me I had signs of "pump rub", which has to do with the transfer case. "Great" I thought...another reason to flog this thing!
I had to look it up, as I had never heard of this before...and as I'm researching it, I discover that many types of TC's are prone to the dreaded pump rub!.
Are Ford transfer-cases susceptible to this as well?
If so, is there a year/model where it got corrected?
That was common on the NV transfer cases GM used until 2007. There is a simple kit to prevent that also. The Ford hasn't had issues since the BW1356 days when the oil pump would wear a hole.
