I was wondering if many of you have this option on your SD truck. When I test drove a SD a few weeks ago it had them but I didn’t pay attention to see what they were like. When ordering a new SD it this option a must for most of you? If you have them how do they compare to the standard headlights? When I drive at night I like to be able to see well. Seems like quite a bit for this option ($1080).
Agreed, get them, the stock Halogens are terrible. I've got a Lariat Ultimate but the only thing missing was the LED HIDs. I got a great deal but really wish I would've opted for the HIDs. It's a couple grand for aftermarket and even more to get OEM installed later, or you can get LED bulbs like I did but its just not the same
Ive built my own custom HID projector headlights for my 06' my 09' and my 13'. I am so happy for the first time Ford offered a quality headlight! I have no clue what took so long. These LED headlights have excellent output and color. You will absolutely regret not getting them.
Get them!! You won't ever regret it. You will regret not getting them if you ever drive a vehicle at any point with them and go back to yours.
I'm actually surprised Ford offers the halogen option. LED's are way cheaper than halogens, use much less energy, etc.
NTSB is what is hamstringing vehicle manufacturers in the US from making way better headlights. Audi had LED headlamps that would melt snow 10 years ago in Germany. Our traffic safety laws regarding headlamps are grossly outdated.
I will say once you have driven a vehicle at night with HID's or LED headlights you won't ever own another vehicle without them. We have had one or both styles of lights in all of our vehicles since 2011.
Field of view is vastly increased. Easier on the eyes too even though some reports suggested they made your eyes tired faster due to the brightness but your eyes quickly adjust to the brighter light and I've found I just focus on what is there vs trying to see beyond the old halogens.
The stock halogens are horrible. You can improve them as mentioned earlier, but the best option is stock LED. I have halogens because LEDs and the associated other options would have firmly kicked the truck out of my budget.

Far superior light output compared to the halogen lights.
Also, that option price is a bargain considering the replacement cost of "one" of these OEM LED headlight assemblies is over 1k.

LED`S and HID`s are two different lighting sources.
