So, jims94vmx, it was not as complicated as was illustrated in the F150 video?

not in popping the top off. He did (in the video) pop off the bottom. It was around 50 degrees so not too cold. I would not try it if it was colder. I was worried about breaking off tabs.

I will get pics later today or tomorrow depending on this rain.

Here are some pics of the backside of the mirrors and the mirror housing also.

back of passenger side larger mirror glass. Metal tabs are anti vibration. Just tilt mirror and pull off being careful not to break the glass. Snaps back on. Just firm pressure making sure the metal tabs ride along the curved guide.

Back of the small mirror. Again, just pops off.

The mirror housing, the plastic was me keeping the plugs dry from dealer to home...was raining. Notice the 3 guides at 11 oclock 3 oclock and 7 oclock. This is where the metal tabs go into on the inside.

I took off the 7mm bolts (5 or 6) very visible. Then at the top of the housing in about 3 places towards the top were tabs holding the mirror cap and back of the mirror. It took some finesse. I just took my time going around the back to separate and have access to the light. The light will want to fall away as you take off the back....it has a plug (small harness) and that is it. 2 of the bolts actually go through the lights housing to keep it from vibrating.
When putting it back just take your time to line up everything. All the small tabs and some wiring make it a slow and steady process. Less then an hour because i did not want to break any tabs.

Hope this helps someone else.

Note: I would bet that the paper i have earlier in this thread showing a screwdriver would be a good choice. Then you are starting the prying on the plastic housing instead of pulling directly on the glass.....

jims94vmx, this is very helpful...so I understand, there are locking tabs on the backings of the mirrors but you are saying that they don’t necessarily need to be individually released but rather either by grasping the mirror and pulling or as you pointed out using a screwdriver, the screwdriver will ‘generally’ (not targeting specific tabs) help to release the mirror?

The tabs don't see to have a hard/deep edge so popping them off works....just a fine line so it stays in place.

I would think the pic showing the screwdriver would be the "best" practice. No pressure on the glass. Just a large headed screwdriver in the one "special" spot and twist looks to easily separate the two. Don't forget to disconnect the wires for heated mirrors or other things hooked to the glass.

took him longer to pull truck in and back out then taking off mirrors!

did it at a no charge also. Pays to have a great relationship with dealer. Thanks Brian!
You should give the dealership a plug so people in the area can patronize them. I believe in naming dealers that give good service and exposing those that don't.

Bethlehem Ford (now owned by Koch Ford) in the Lehigh Valley. We bought our 2009 Fusion and 2017 F250 from them. Been dealing with them for at least 20 years. A lot of history.
