Hello everybody, today my 2013 F550 started making a pretty good knocking/tapping sound coming from the top end of the engine drivers side. It was bad enough that I shut it down and got it towed home. Talked to my local mechanic and he told me of similar trucks doing the same thing. I called my local dealership and talked to them. They said there is a good chance it’s a fuel knock and not to worry. So I started it up and the knock was gone. Came back a few miles later once it was back up to temp and I finished my day off with it sounding about the same and not getting worse. They also said if it was a rod knock it would get bad fast. They said to bring it in so he could reset the computer and do a couple other things. Anybody seen anything like this before? I was pretty worried that it was a rod knock. Thanks
Check for DTCs. When my #5 fuel injector started failing, it didn't show a CEL at first but the code was there. Mine didn't make a knocking noise though.

Added injector cleaner and within 2 miles the knock was gone and so far hasn’t come back. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the help. I’m assuming I’ll need a new injector soon but I’ll see how long this lasts.
