The commonized head (20mm) is still a concern, still a 6.0 design. My heads are the 20mm commonized heads.
I don't get the "commonized" description about these heads or the block. Neither the block or the heads of the 6.0 are the same as the 6.4L. So they redesigned the head (at least) and drilled the locating dowel holes to 20mm. The up-size in the hole only would take a change in the bit on the multi-spindle mill. It doesn't make sense.
But these heads are a complete redesign, including the injector hold-down and its threaded hole, to get away from the coolant to fuel rail cracks.
Jack, I popped back in over here since you said your installing the bubble remover lines 😊
Are you installing the fuel line kit that ties both heads together via the rear fuel rail ports? If so careful on the angle you drill them on. The fuel line kit is from Amazon sold by TamerX. Heres some pics from my install.
Hey, im looking to build my own fuel return system pushing the fuel into the back of heads from a fass fuel system then out the front through the factory lines up to factory housing without a filter and using factory return system, my question for you is where did you get you fuel adapters in these pics, i think they will be perfect for me to be able to get my rubber line away from exhaust heat as it was ive been looking at using a close 90 fitting strait from 12-1.5 to -6 hose to a y block ontop of trans fed by -8 hose back to fass pump
Not trying to steal the thread even if it is inactive, just hoping to get info on fittings

TamerX and you can get the fuel line and fittings for the rest from Getfast1.com. I’d skip the FASS and look at a 6.7L motorcraft fuel pump and CAT secondary 2 micron filter.

Sorry...posted about your return lines before I saw you had posted about it at the end

Where the hoses get tapped into the head, theres no restriction. Theres definitely a good flow of coolant through them and they are hot to the touch when upto temp. I used the Driven Diesel kit.
Ok thanks guys, idk why i didnt expect them to be part of a kit but that kit looks like a great starting point, as far as the fass fuel vs the 6.7 setup ive already got the fass fuel which is new in the box, i got a smoking deal on it a while back and looking to do it all when i crate motor my 05.. im getting tired of driving my old dodge out of town instead of my ford because i dont trust it (which it always tries to do something on road trips)
I tried to find just the long banjo fittings with JIC ends and they are all but nonexistent without a kit. I’m sure you could get a hydraulic shop to make some custom hoses but by then you could have the kit.
just pray you aren’t on a road trip and that FASS pump craps out. If the 6.7 pump dies I can get one from just about any Ford dealership or salvage yard if I got in a bind.
I had the Driven Diesel regulated return on my truck for over a year so I just used the rear banjo hard lines and stainless hoses plus the regulator for part of my setup.
Im not too woried about fass fuel dieing on a road trip, the way im doing it im planning to just remove banjo bolt where fuel feeds from factory system into upper fuel filter and replace with a regular bolt to plug off and seal while looking stock then unplugging original pump, in a pinch i can swap back to banjo, plug in factory pump then stick a pair of vise grips on my pressure line close to fass pump and ill be back to factory system with the crossover at the back of the heads through my "Y" block
Edit: realistically ill have banjo in glove box and since im going to run hydraulic lines from heads back to fass fuel i can cut a round piece of cooper flashing just the tight size so i can unscrew line from fass, insert round plug and retighten and line and it will seal without damaging line, was thinking vise gripping suction line for fass so it would have the second return system but this should be easier and better
Edit 2: if i set it up the way im thinking but add a electric valve between stock pump and engine like the old ford and gm dual tank switches i could have a couple switches in cab that i could flip and run either pump or both... i would imagine a fass fuel pumping into the back of the heads plus a stock pump pushing into the front of the heads would keep pretty good fuel pressure regardless of any tuning and injector combo you could find for these trucks not that ill ever have a use for that but it would be nice to be able to switch on the factory pump easily every couple weeks just to keep it working so it doesnt sit for 5 years then expect it to work when fass dies
