I have a 2000 excursion and need to find a replacement driver side door keypad... it has the green round harness connector. The only new ones I find need a separate harness and that harness has a grey round connector. Are the 2 types interchangeable if I get the grey connector harness? If not, does anyone have the keypad with green connector for sale?
This may be a dumb question but how do you know the keypad is bad or troubleshoot it? Only reason I ask is my 2000 has it and I have the code in the owners manual but I have never gotten it to work except for maybe the one time I accidentally hit a button and locked my keys in the truck but I haven’t had any luck getting the keypad to work.

The last 2 key pads on any Ford will lock all doors, when any key is pressed the keypad buttons should light up. Those are 2 ways to check for signs of response.
That sounds about right and good to know, pretty sure my hand hit the last button on the keypad when I locked myself out in a hurry because it was cold outside. Once I get reunited with my truck I will have to check that out. Had to move and the wife wanted to drive her car while I drove the Penske truck during our move north. Once we settle in a little more I think we will be going to pick up my truck in a week or two thankfully!

that is a neat feature, for my dogs on hot summer days, they stay cool.
and when I need to run into a store for 30 seconds, no one can open the door and drive off with the truck.
I have the code that was in the owners manual, is that supposed to be the door code for that keypad and if so is it possible to change the door code because I know I tried it once and had no luck with it.

look under the dash,
it should be printed on a module behind the radio,
for me, it is the VSM

The door code can usually be pulled by FORscan, the code in your manual is probably the entry code. The entry code listed in a manual, on a credit card, or on a sticker (if present) is the MASTER code and cannot be changed or erased. That master code has to be used to create a second code if you wish, like a code you remember, or means something. When the master code or your programmed code is entered, the drivers door unlocks, if you quickly hit the #3 following your code, all remaining doors unlock.
