My '04 Excursion (4x4, V10) windshield washer pump isn't firing even though the wipers are functioning. I read through the excellent example of troubleshooting in a similar thread about rock2610d's 2001 Ex, and symptoms are very similar.
My problem: locating the washer pump relays under the hood to know which ones to test. All I have on hand is The Book of Haynes, which has a wiring diagram for the wiper/washer system but doesn't provide hints on which underhood relays are which. With it being 11* F out in the driveway right now, the thought of crawling around to squint at the wire colors going into the bottom is... um, unappealing.
So, can any of you FTE Excursion Experts provide some pointers on where I'll find the relays, and hopefully spare me from frostbite during troubleshooting?
On my 2000 Ex, the relays for the washer pumps are #206 and 209 in the under hood fuse box. Don’t know which is which. Also don’t know if my 2000 would be the same as your 2004.
Unfortunately not. The 2004 doesn't have a fuse box under the hood there at all. There is a bracket with about 5 or 6 relays on or near it, but all fuses got relocated to under the dash. At least knowing that the old location was about there (I'm assuming that's just behind the FL wheel well, right?) is helpful in that I can hope Ford didn't decide to move the relay all the way across the engine bay... but who knows.
Thanks, unleashd. I've actually been a member of the forum for 3.5 years, but it's such a good resource that this is the very first time I haven't found a definitive answer for what I needed to know.
I do have a PDF of the owner's manual, and it lists no location for the washer pump relay. It only lists out the relays that are in the under-dash fuse panel. So it'll be handy if my rear window defroster stops working, but no use for this.
Thanks for the help. Unless someone has a secret Ford-tech manual that has insider info, I guess I'll grab some handwarmers and start checking the wire colors going into the relays on the left side of the engine bay to see if it's there or if it's integrated into the motor as DetroitEx thinks may be the case.

I just realized I missed the quoted post below, posted previously in the thread:
