Excursion Engine Noise
I figured this would be a good as a group as any to post my concern about my 2000 Excursion V10. After a heavy rain and even sometimes after driving through a deep water puddle my engine will start making a intermittent DING noise. The sound is that of a rock hitting a metal fan blade with the fan on. As soon as the rain stops and the truck engine has time to dry out, the noise stops. Often the trucks battery will die after a hard rain as well. This doesn't always happen in correlation with the DING noise though. I recently took the truck to the dealership and they had it close to 3 weeks because they can't figure it out. We already replaced the starter before taking it to the dealership, one of the mechanics said it sounded like the starter pin was engaging and hitting the flywheel. Any ideas?
