Heat issues - need advice

I have a F150 2010 that the heat is not working on the drivers side but is on the passengers side. I took it on for a quote and they said it was the LH blend door actuator and quoted me $1100. I called another shop and they quoted me $800 to change the LH blend door actuator. They supposable did not have to take the whole dash off but loosened it and were able to get to the back bolt. I unfortunately paid them then checked and the heat was not working. They advised they never tested it before putting it back together. They are looking at it again tomorrow and will be calling me. He said the whole assembly (actually blend doors, multiple actuators, etc.) may need to be replaced which will cost $800 plus for the part not including labor. Is it possible they changed the wrong actuator as from what I've read the dash, console, etc. all have to be taken out. I am now out $800 with no heat and wondering if replacing the whole assembly is the only solution or is it just the easiest fix. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I doubt you need EVERYTHING.. you had heat on the one side. It would appear you need the door "fixed" on the other side. Pretty shoddy work to not test the system when the old door or controller was opened to look at... and again no test when reassembly ? I would press the point that they have $800. of your money and have done NOTHING.

Thank you. I did question him on why he didn't test it and he advised it can't be tested until put back together. The newer trucks can be tested to see if the door is working but my truck (2010) is to old. If it is the actual door, he advised ford doesn't sell them separate thus the need for the whole assembly. The lack of follow up and testing was communicated and hopefully he will make it right. Guess, my thought process is to have him fix it and then negotiate what I'll pay him if anything. It does make sense that if everything else is working besides the drivers side heat it shouldn't need a whole new assembly. Thank you for the video...he did say it didn't click and advised it didn't click before, it just doesn't have heat! Did think of taking it else where but being I've already paid him....
Thank you again and I'll update the outcome. Cheers

Would you happen to know if there is only one actuator on the left side? I'll verify but he said they didn't have to take the whole dash out and we able to pull it out a bit and get the actuator but didn't remove the console so I'm thinking they may have changed the wrong one possibly? I know there are a few actuators but not sure of the locations.

there should only be two actuators that are variable position to get various temps... There are other vacuum actuators that are used to direct the air to the defrost, dash, or floor........... but they look different than the temp control units.

Thanks Steve. I spoke to them yesterday and they said something was stuck?? so they removed it and were putting it back together. Just received a call and the heat on the drivers side is still not working so they are going to change the HVAC Module. I'm in a position to wait and see at this point...
