catch can style / type

Hey all,
I've been looking at catch cans for my 2014 EB F150 and am totally confused and am looking for advice / explanations pros & cons for various systems:

some have single can vs some with double cans
some drill & hose down to turbo on passenger side, some drill into air filter box on driver side and some don't do either - just clip on hoses
I don't like single bolt attachment of UPR system's can to rad support. Can you drill added mounting holes in the magnesium rad support bolster or is there risk for fire?

UPR, JLT, RX, Prosport, Mishimoto ... other ??????? Which one????

Thanks for any help,
Mike

I added the UPR double valve catch can with clean side separator to my 2014 EB. Within a week it seemed to idle a little better and I've been collecting about 5-6 oz of milkshake looking substance from the can at each oil change of 5k miles. I've been happy with it and with the results I've seen I'm glad I'm not trying to burn that in the engine. Mine is the one that mounts behind the radiator using an existing bolt from the electrical harness. I did put a zip tie around the can and over the air intake tube to make the mount a little more rigid.

Thanks Calvynandhobbs. Can you put a link or model number for your catch can? I like the placement being behind the radiator ... I've read about them freezing up when in front.

I may have gotten mine directly from UPR, but if you click this link you can see the different mount options so you can mount it on the backside of the radiator rather than out front.

Calvynandhobbs,
One last question ... or maybe two... I just called UPR and asked about what happens if the contents in the can freeze, considering I live in MI. He said I should drain it every day . I see that you live in Connecticut so you would likely have the same concern. How do you manage this issue during the winter months? Even if I parked inside (which I don't) there would still be concerns during the day when it sat outside while I was at work. I appreciate any help and or advice you can give on this. Thanks.

Mike

During the winter months I do empty it about once every two weeks, immediately after or shortly after driving it. The temps under the hood will defrost anything that may have frozen in the canister. Even at 5k mile intervals at the oil change I only collect 4-5 oz and it is a mixture of water, oil and gas so it has takes a while for it to freeze. I've never had a problem with it not coming out warm or hot in the winter months.
What part of Michigan are you from? I grew up in Muskegon and my kids live in Ann Arbor and Belleville.

Thanks for the reply Calvynandhobbs. I live pretty close to Belleville. I think I'm going to install the UPR system in the spring and remove it no later than October each year. That way, I only burn crap during the winter months. I've also switched to Royal Purple oil as I saw a few articles about it having the lowest % vaporization which means less oil vapor going into the EGR and PCV circuits. Hopefully my EB holds up for many years with these efforts! Thanks again.
