My 1999 f-150 4x4 5.4L is sick. But instead of having a temperature it has none at all. The problem is the heater, sometimes I have heat and cannot get it to switch to cold(usually hot outside when this happens); other times like today it's 35 degrees outside, with the blend control set to high heat it will not produce heat, I would be better off, rolling the windows down. The engine temp never moves out of normal temp range. The blend door motor is working when you turn the blend control **** from cold to hot and vise versa. However, Not sure if the blend door is actually moving. Is there a water valve under the hood or behind the dash that could be sticking? Please help, it's cold.
you should be able to look under your dash and while moving the lever see the door linkage move if its not you should be able to move it with your hand. does your defrost work on your wind shield ?if you have heat there it is your blend door, good luck, bob
I found the problem, the blend door is shattered where the actuator connects to the door. Turns out, Ford will not replace the $4 door, your only option is to buy the entire heater box at $250. Six hours disassemble work for a $4 door, wow! Thanks Bob, for the quick response.
if you are able to do the work , you can make that door your self , ive dug the pieces out and glued them to a flat piece the same size , worked good , good luck, bob
thanks for your help, this is a great site, I wish I could have found it sooner. The project took me 12 hours total, I glued the door back together, so far it's working great.
