Yes, the upper oil pan has been leaking for the past 12k. Last time it was in for service I asked them to look at it. They cleaned the area and put die in the oil and said "no leak". It's much worse now so maybe they will finally do something about it.

I wonder the same thing.

And.....what is it that fails that causes the coolant to leak? Is it a bearing seal or cover seal that loses torque?

Got my truck back at noon yesterday. Invoice said water pump or seal leaking, remove and install. Free because of 100000 warranty. Service guy also stated the pump has 2 year unlimited mileage warranty on it also.

Mine is a 16 also, recently had the water pump replaced due to a leak @ 22k. I now have another leak that has developed in the left front corner of the engine bay behind the headlight that I couldn't identify. It is random as to when it leaks, I am suspecting the radiator, it's leaking from an area that is hard to see.

Thanks for the info. Was the pump replaced or did they just R&R the seal? Mine goes in Monday.

Yeah no kidding.

My service advisor called yesterday with an update. The water pump is leaking as well as the front cover, they ordered parts and should have the truck back to me this afternoon.

I recorded the following December 2017, quite positive it was the water pump bearing making the noise.

Interesting. Mine started making this noise on Monday, 01/21 and loud enough that I stopped to make a recording of it. This was the first start in the morning, I think temps were upper 30's.
The best I can remember, mine didn't make this noise prior to the primary water pump failing in 2015. It just failed. I discovered that issue walking out of the office one evening with a lot of my coolant on the ground under my truck.

After the thousands I spent on truck repairs in 2018, I can't wait to kick off 2019 with more truck repairs...LOL.

That's the same noise mine made. Interesting enough it only did it for a week then never heard the noise again. It was low 30's when I recorded it, yours is easier to hear, I had mine idled up and first start after a cold soak.
