Engine oil rotella

When I got my truck I decided to change the oil and replace 3 gallons that was in the pan with rotella t5 15w40...my question is when I drop the filter is it ok to go to rotella T6 5w40 instead of rotella t6 15w40

Yes. The 15w/40 will eventually be rinsed out in a few changes.

It’ll start easier with the synthetic 5w/40. I actually switched from T6 to the Triax 5w/40 and have been very happy,

I like to drain the HPOP then refill it while the filter and plug are off letting the 'extra' oil flow down. And fill the oil filter before installing it.

I've changed two to Rotella 5-40 and they do start better than on 15-40. Mine has sticky injectors so it was more obvious.

No, when I first bought my truck I did drain it but haven’t since.

15 quarts from bone dry, to be precise.

Has Schaeffer Supreme 9000 5W40 fallen out of favor? I left the forum for awhile and Triax is all everyone talks about when I got back.

EDIT for brain fart on oil volume. Thank you for the correction Hussler. My memory was one quart shy of 4 gallons, and then I went and did some bad math.
