Just finished installing a 20" Rigid RDS curved light bar on my '15 F350 Diesel. When I power the lights on there is a noticeable high pitch noise coming from the light. Its not obnoxious but noticeable. It may well be normal, but just wanted to make sure.
Anyone else have one? Does it make a high pitched noise when powered on? Truck was not running when I turned it on to test it but I don't think that would matter.
Is it wired straight to the batteries or to ignition on power? LED’s shouldn’t make any noise at least mine haven’t... for what Rigid charges for their stuff I would send them an email and see what they have to say. They are way too proud of their stuff IMO to have any problems whatsoever with it.
It does it when the truck is off or running.
I did send an email. Prob won't hear back til next week with the holiday. So just hoping to ease my OCD mind if I could. It's just audible enough that it made me wonder if it was a defect, but just quiet enough that I thought maybe its just a factor of all that power pushed through so many LED's so near each other.

btw love your avatar
‘Thanks. Agree, in the jeep community you see a lot of people that put light bars on and then complain about the wind noise. However this sounds more electrical and I would guess there’s probably something wrong with your lightbar. Hopefully, it works out for you. Any chance that you hooked the lightbar up to just a straight battery before you did all the wiring? I don’t know how hard it is to disconnect from your wiring the one option would be to see if you could powered up just from a straight battery maybe there something wrong with the wiring harness they gave you. Just thinking out loud...
Just an update in case anyone finds this thread in the future. Real Truck sent a replacement light bar and its doing the same thing. When the new one came I even tried testing it first before installing it using the supplied wiring harness, switch, and a brand new 2 week old battery fully charged with nothing else connected to it. still made the noise.
Talked to Rigid directly again and they said it shouldn't do that...
interested if anyone else with a rigid lightbar has the same issue.
LIghtbar is friggen AWESOME. Amazing light from a 20" bar.
Hoping to send the replacement light directly to RIgid for them to test and return for a swap out. Will update the tread when that happens.
