Brake light wiring
I received a tailgate brake light bar for Christmas and it does not work properly on my truck when plugged into any of the trailer connections as my truck has trailer recognition. It does not matter if I plug into the 7 pin connectors or the 4 pin. I tried adding resistors to the light bar and that did not allow the light bar to work correctly either. I plug the light bar into other vehicles and it works just fine so I know the bar is good. I found a thread that talked about hard wiring the light bar to the truck taillights (not trailer) but do not want to cut into my factory harness. I purchased both male and female connectors to make my own little pigtail (adapter harness) so I can just unplug it if I ever want to remove it and be back using the factory uncut wires. My truck has BLIS as well so the drivers (left) side harness has 9 wires and the passenger (right) side harness has 10 wires. Does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows the wire colors for the harness that connects directly to the taillight housings so I can be sure I am using the correct wires?
