Ok so I am not sure if this is normal for these trucks (truck in sig below), but I have noticed that the 2-3 shift is super smooth unlike the 1-2 and 3-4 and 4-TC lock (if this is correct). I love hard firm shifts, but the soft smooth shift of 2-3 worries me. This was a problem with the Chevy 4L60E, well mine that is. I did change out my fluid about 8k miles ago by draining then refilling. Didn't flush it or anything. Is this a sign my 2-3 clutches are going out or is this normal?
It's extremely common to mistake converter lockup for a shift. Mine locks up in 3rd and stays locked through the 3-4 shift so it feels like a 5 speed. Do you have a tuner installed now or has the truck ever been tuned?
I would also change the fluid. ALL of the fluid. Draining and filling it does about 1/4 of the fluid. Here is a thread (including Mark's instructions) where a user did it. I can't seem to find the link to the tech article but this should have the same information. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...and-video.html
