my auto transmission is slow to shift thru the gears until the truck shifts thru the shift pattern. the first 2 shifts takes place around 3k rpm. and truck works good the rest of the day.
i had fluid changed about 2 yrs. ago. i have apprx. 70k mi. on truck.

I think you will find that the 5R110 tranny with a PSD in front of them will be like that for the first 2 or 3 minutes. Mine does, always has, and I consider it normal. Take it easy on that cold PSD for the first 5 minutes and you won't really notice the late shifts.

thanks for the reply.

something going on with the shifting. i had truck for 5 yrs. and this is not normal. i always had a smooth shift until about one mo. ago. when i first take off i wonder if the truck is going to shift and it does this for the first 2 shifts and after that it is ok. the tranny fluid looks good and isn't low. any other suggeston.
thanks

If you are convinced it is not shifting right, then I don't have any idea what would cause it. But I can remind you of the service schedule, which is every 30k miles, so you should have already had two complete fluid flushes. And those flushes can only be done by a dealer with a machine that heats the fluid. If you had the service done by any independent shop, or did it yourself in the driveway, then it probably was not done properly. Was the external filter changed?
