A question for ND

I bought a Duraspark distributor to mine parts out of. And I can't seem to get the numbers to cross on any parts house site. The box is marked D6OZ-12127-AX and the tag is D7UE-AA. I'm trying to find out what engine it was for so I will know what gear is on it. I'm pretty sure it was for a service replacement because the housing isn't stamped.

ID number: D7UE-AA = Ford part number: D7UZ-12127-A .. Distributor Assy (Motorcraft DA-1556) / Obsolete

1977/79 E100 351W/C6.

D6OZ-12127-AX is the rebuilt version of D6OZ-12127-A 1976 Torino 351W distributor. It might be a new dizzy in the rebuilt box.

The dizzy gear is C9ZZ-12390-A (Motorcraft DZ-412) / Obsolete

Thanks ND! I knew you would know. And you are correct much to my surprise it appears to be a new distributor in a rebuild box. 40 bucks an free shipping I'm happy.
I have a new (Motorcraft DZ-365) gear would that be correct for a 351C ?

This is C4TZ-12390-A .. 351M/400 and something else that's older considering the C4TZ prefix. I'll look tomorrow.

Yes I know. I'm running an E4HE-AA out of a 95 F700, 429ci. in it right now, recurved of course. Just trying to figure out what some of these treasures fit originally. Since the new gear I have fits a 351M/400 it will work in a Cleveland. I hurt a main bearing in the engine back in the summer, "acting like a teenager" so when I freshened it up I bumped the compression up to 10.3-1 from 9.3-1. That has caused me to have to pull a lot of timing out of it, so I'm just building a new distributor for it. So I can blow it up again.

C4TZ-12390-A .. Dizzy Gear (Motorcraft DZ-365) = 1964/78 330 2V H/D; 361 2V; 391 4V FT engines // 351M/400.

danno: You will get a better response if you start your own thread, rather that ask an off topic question in a thread that has no similarity to what you're asking about. This is why people have difficulty when searching past threads.
**Not trying to beat you up, just trying to explain.......

That's interesting. I was always under the impression that the gears were the same on all the 335 series engines and the 385 series engines, had no idea some FT's used it too. But from what you're saying maybe there is some small difference in the gears between 335's and 385's. What gear do you show for a 351 Cleveland? I drug out an old original Cleveland gear and compared it to the DZ365 I have and the diameter and pitch are the same but the pad where the gear sits down on the block is slightly different.

There's no way to look up individual dizzy gears, they're only listed in distributor parts lists...and there are dozens.

I had to troll thru the lists to find out that 351M/400's used DZ-365 .. If you had listed the Ford part number, it would have been easier.

Then looked thru the truck catalogs to find what the C4TZ gear also fit.

The other problem is...in 1970/74, Ford just listed 351 in the dizzy application charts (car catalogs), did not define 351C from 351W

Thanks ND! That explains a lot. The original distributor that came out of this engine is stamped D0OF-12127-G it's actually an Autolite.
