Hi all,
I have always appreciated the great help I find here at FTE. I have a 2016 F-150 with Sync 3, Version 1.0, build Number 15139, Nav 1 14.
I called my local Ford dealer to ask if they could update my Sync to at least version 2.2 (not sure if 3.0 is available for my truck, does anyone know?).
I was told by the service manager that only a small update to Version 1.0 was available and it would cost $149. This was based on him inputting my VIN into Ford Oasis.
Does this make sense to anyone? Is it possible that my Sync 3 version (1.0) is not updateable?
My goal was to get version 2.2 so I could use Apple Play.
I have also tried the ford.owner.com registration site for Sync. It has been down for days. I have called Ford multiple times and they say they are working on it with no ETA of repair.
Any thoughts if I am stuck at Version 1.0 ?
Thanks for the time and consideration.
certainly someone on this site has downloaded the files you need to update your sync to the latest version 3 of sync 3. I wouldn't pay the dealer anything for something that's free.
If you have a 2016 with Sync 1.0, it is very likely you need to change a part in your truck to make CarPlay work.
My Android Auto worked very well, I didn't need to change anything.
You can download it all in Ford.com website .... https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date/sync-software-update.html#/prepare

Anyone have the files I could use to update Sync? The www.ford.owner.com site for Sync registration and download has been "down" for several days with no timeline for repair.
I have the updated USB hub ready to go in when after I get the download. Thanks in advance.
The wi-fi update method is hit and miss. Some get it to work, others do not. I’ve tried for months on end and it’s never picked up and downloaded the update that I can see on the Sync website. You can also try updating via the USB. I’ve gone that route twice and was successful only once.
The Version numbers seems to vary based upon your Nav configuration. I’d just wait until Ford figures out the Sync Owners website and try the USB method.
I didn't have any problem going to the sync download page.
try again.
Once I get to the page and try to register (I am a new owner of this truck) it lets me put in all the information (name, email, password, truck vin) and then show a System Error on the page. Does anyone want to load these files for me so I can update? Pretty please?

I did the same thing and it worked for me. Once. But only after I turned off my “private browsing” feature. Tried a second time and it crashed. Good stuff. Plus, it tells me that I need to install V3.0, but when I go to history, it says my last install was V3.0. The nerd running that website is all thumbs.
I did this update on my 2016 today. Google search "ford owners v2". You can sign in there, i found accidentally it after several hours of trying.
Thank you very much. I was able to finally register this way and was able to get the version 3 downloaded to my usb drive. I will try the install tomorrow!
