Ford ESP Name Change

Hello All. Today I bought an ESP plan. The only problem is, the dealer misspelled my last name and my city's name. Is this a major deal or not really a big deal? I called the dealer I bought it from and he said he'll change it in 5 days. Not sure if there's a 5 day waiting period to change info, but was wondering if anyone knew what the deal is. Now I have to call in 5 days to double check it's been changed. I'm hoping that even if it's not updated, it's not a big deal. Thanks in advance!!!

If it`s an actual "Ford" ESP, no need to stress over it because all you have to do is follow up with your dealer or call Ford ESP customer service to fix the paperwork issues.

However, if it`s a third party ESP that many dealers offer and sell to customers, you should be very diligent in making sure everything is correct.

I wouldn’t think it would be a big deal since the ESP is linked to your vin.

Th 5 day period is probobly for it to populate into the computer system.

I have a unique legal name an mine is misspelled often. Many times they flip my first and last name. Other times they aren’t sure of my gender.

Thanks guys for the fast responses! I'll sleep better tonight knowing I didn't buy a $2500 mistake. And yes it was a Ford ESP plan. After what you guys say, I'm so glad I didn't go with a third party plan. Thanks again!!

I forgot to ask if your truck has the LED lighting.
If so, the LED lighting is an optional add on package that can be added to the Ford ESP plans.

Actually it does have the LED lighting, so yes I did add that also to the ESP, along with the first day rental. Thanks for asking!!

The dealer I bought from didn't say anything about LED being an additional add on to Ford ESP. is that add on for BULB REPLACEMENT ONLY? My understanding is that if there is a LED fixture failure (not a bad bulb, but the fixture fails) that it would be covered under the regular ESP.

Can you elaborate a little? Thanks!!

You need to check your ESP and see if the dealer included it in what you paid or are paying for because if your vehicle has LED lighting, this is an "optional" add on policy to the Ford ESP.

It`s very easy to overlook this add on/optional coverage when purchasing a "Ford" branded and backed ESP but it`s there on the website. On the F150`s, this additional add on coverage is almost $200.00 dollars but it`s worth it considering that "one" LED headlight fixture cost close to 1K and the SD LED headlights are in the same price range.

The LED fixtures in these trucks are "Not Serviceable" via a LED bulb replacement so the entire fixture has to be replaced.

That is really good to know. I'm going to have to pull my sales contract right now & check it out. I just assumed everything was included in the ESP. Thanks for the heads up!

OK, So I checked my ESP & it does NOT include bulb replacement. Does anyone know if you can add those after the fact?

appreciate any input...

Hmmmm, that`s an interesting question and to be honest or unless Ford`s ESP department is **** about the origination date, I don`t see why you wouldn`t be able to add the LED coverage.

I would start by calling Ford ESP customer service first and go from there.

The headache might come from the ESP being included in the financing of your truck payment but, the good thing is that an ESP can be canceled so if you haven`t exceeded the factory mileage warranty, you should be able to start another Ford ESP outside of and excluded from your monthly payment.

Let us know what happens.

Bulb coverage is required for led housing replacement. It's a worthy add on considering its 1k when the led fails. The ESP will cover a mechanical failure such as the adjuster. The led drivers are not covered under basic ESP. Get the full ESP guide and start reading.

I plan to call on monday. I emailed the dealer I bought from...waiting to hear back.

I also emailed floodfordesp.com - with all the talk of them on FTE I figured they'd be helpful. I. Was. Wrong. Flood was EXTREMELY unprofessional and disappointing. I emailed explaining that I had purchased an ESP from my dealer but did not select the bulb coverage. I asked if it was possible to add after the fact, hoping (at a minimum) that they could let me know if it was possible. Response from the Flood Rep (Gardiner Reynolds):

"Next time buy it from us."

That's it. No other explanation or recommendations. haha. whatever - I certainly would never buy from them even if it costs me a few hundred extra. Really sad that customer service has gone the way of the buffalo.

Tuck is owned outright so I won't have an issue with ESP being a part of the loan. Hopefully, Ford ESP customer service will be more helpful the Flood.

Very good advice. Wish I would have read a little more before buying the truck. For such an inexpensive add on, I would not have hesitated. I do not remember discussing add-ons with the dealer at all. I may be forgetting, but I knew I wanted premiumCare (7yr/125k), but I don't remember us going through add on options. I've now read through & understand much better.

hopefully, someone will read this thread & learn by my mistakes!
