Trailer TPMS

Hello, I've got a '19 F350 Lariat optioned with the Individual Trailer TPMS/Customer-Placed Trailer Camera. I tow a 27ft Airstream with dual axles, and would like to take advantage of the TPMS option. Is it the simple task of adding four Ford TPMS sensors into the trailer tires and programming the car via the dashboard/steering wheel controls? Maybe it's a stupid question but I've been searching and I see guys also adding a TPMS sensor receiver mounted on the trailer (in addition to the wiring changes that I assume the truck is already optioned for).

The ford package will include a new 7-pin receptacle that also includes an outlet for the TPMS/Camera plug as a single unit (two outlets, one assembly). The whole package includes 4 TPMS sensors, the TPMS receiver and (optionally?) the trailer camera. All wiring is included.

No programming was required on the truck other than telling it what the threshold was for low PSI and then training the sensors.

Thank you, it looks like the wiring package is something that I can order from Ford parts. However, if I ordered it as an option off the factory floor, the question is:

What do I need to add to the truck to make the trailer TPMS work?

I would assume if i optioned the truck with trailer TPMS it should be fairly simple, and I’d rather hope to not have to change out the wiring plug on a brand new truck. Otherwise what’s the point of spending the $725 on the option? Was there something that should’ve received with the truck in delivery that was missed?

If you ordered the option then all the parts will come in a box and you're responsible for the install, unless you can talk your dealer into doing the truck part of it. It doesn't take that long. Maybe 10 minutes on the truck. On my trailer, it took longer to plan the cable route than to actually install it.

Got it, my regular sales guy was off the day I picked up my truck and I had a junior guy help me out. Not as focused or knowledgeable about the super duty so I guess they “forgot” to give me the parts.

Thanks for the help!

Yep, I had to ask for mine too. From reading posts about the option package I knew what to expect.

Much appreciated, thank you, sir.

I’ll have to give my sales guy a call on Monday to request the parts. Dealership has been around for 40 years, you’d think they’d have it down by now.

The trailer TPMS package was new in 2017, so they're probably still clueless.

I tow 2 trailers.
A 10k dump and a wakeboard boat.
I’d have to buy a 2nd TPMS kit, right?

As well as the TPMS receiver. The TPMS sensors can be purchased separately because the factory package includes 4 sensors and some Ford owners have trailers with 3 axles.

I don't know if the TPMS receiver is OK to submerge in water.
