I just put in a hoppy trailer brake controller in my 96 f 150. I am wanting to get a car trailer to tow my Fairlane so I am trying to get the hook ups ready for when I get a trailer. I am wondering what socket to put on my truck the 7 RV blade or the 6 Pole round. What one is used for a car trailer with duel brakes.. ( I will Not be towing a camper ever) Or can it have either on it and should I wait till I get a trailer before putting a socket on my truck....
Wait 'til you actually get your trailer, especially if it's used; it could have either plug. Also, if it's used I'd make sure everything is wired correctly before I plugged it in - some folks can really mickey-mouse trailer wiring!!!
Put The 7 Way On, You Can Always Adapt Down To A Six Way. Hoppy Makes A Large Selection Of Adapters But Most Start At A 7 Way, 7 To 6, Or 7 To 4 Round, Or 7 To 4 Flat. If You Put The Six On You Could Find Yourself In A Situation Where You Need The Seven And Then There Is Cutting And Wiring To Be Spent On It. It Isnt Worth The Trouble To Do It Twice. Wire The Seven And Get Any Adapter You Need Then You Can Tow Almost Anything. Been There Done That And Had To Learn The Hard Way.
