I have a t98 transmission that was hooked up to a 292 y block out of a 1963 ford f100 and I bought a 1966 289 out of a fairlane is there anyway u could I could buy a different bellhouse and hook them together or do I have to a different transmission? And if I have to buy a transmission what would work for a 289? I want it to be a manual

289's were not installed in F100's, only 1963/68 misc. Ford/Merc Passenger Cars and 1966/68 Bronco's.
T-98's were not installed in any car, and no truck after 1964.
You are limited to what M/T you can install because of how it and the engine mounts in 1961/64 trucks.
There are no 1961/64 truck factory engine mounting parts that will work with the 289.
You are in Hot Rodder territory. In other words, what works is what YOU can make work.
Grab some scrap and a welder, and make the mounts.
Put a bellhousing on the 289, without flywheel, and see if the trans will bolt up and engage the pilot bushing. If so, start assembling what flywheel/clutch/throwout/pilot bush that will fit and work.
Or stuff a different trans onto the 289 and make up a shifter.

Which bell housing? 1963/64 and 1965 289 before production date 8/17/1964 .. engine block has 5 bolt holes where the bell housing bolts on.
From production date 8/17/1964, the engine block has 6 bolt holes.
These early 289's (and the 221/260) had an aluminum waterpump and timing cover.
1969/71 F100 302's were available with the Borg-Warner T-85N 3 speed manual with overdrive.
Don't forget the early transmissions had narrow bell housing bolt patterns, while 1965 and up had wide bolt patterns for the transmission to bell housing mounts. I have seen some early switch over period transmissions with both the narrow and wide holes made into the mounting flanges.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...Does a 1966 289 have the same bellhousing pattern as a 300 I6? If it does, then the right bellhousing would allow you to use any 4 speed ever put behind an I6 or forget bellhousings and find a Mazda M5R2 five speed. You'd have to mount a clutch master cylinder somewhere. Like said...hot rodder territory, but possible.

May have to make your own engine perches.
Yeah, 289/302/351 has the same bolt pattern as the 300.
