Cause its so much fun the first time in the vehicle..
maybe before I drop my cab on the final time I should put the torque wrench on a few . I doubt much will be had honestly.
Glenn, I'd for sure check them means you are in there, and go with arp numbers. They should always be checked on a new motor. I wouldn't sweat it much on a motor that had a lot of miles on it already and they were just swapped in. I never did.
Yeah, I will check them Darin. Last summer after I sent Jim the injector that was supposedly bad he asked me to check the oil spouts next time I'm in there. He said that the injector had the oil spout on it and he never gets injectors with the oil spout on them. Sure enough, that so call mechanic put the injector in without a oil spout. Jim is mailing me one. In talking to him he also said to check the torque. He also said with a new motor there should be a new copper washer on the injectors. I pulled them I can't tell if they were new so I ordered a new set of O rings and washers from Clay. I wasn't going to pull the injectors in doing the shims but oh-well, Fun Fun!
Ah the old 'while I am in here...' syndrome! . I fell down that rabbit hole over the summer when building my trans. The fruits of my labor were well worth it in the end.
At least you checked on the injector. Missing a part is sad :/ could it have caused any damage? You sure you have the hardened pushrods? My Smith Bros were not marked.
How were the heads in terms of shims required for proper install height of those springs?
I haven't checked the valve height yet. I would not think the missing oil spout would cause a problem? I'm sure if it would cause a problem Jim would have said so. As far as the pushrods, they are nice and shiny silver including the ends. I don't have a stock one around but I think I read that one end of the stock one is copper colored?

Yes, I do recall the SB pushrods being much shinier. Probably have pics in my thread!
