Lovely Head Gaskets
calling all the experts out there............. I have a what if for you...... my head gaskets are gone... after a lot of fighting the dealer will fix and the mechanic was good with sneaking in the APR studs...BUT when it came time to put them in he back out!!!!(dam)
The question is do u think since everything is new what about switching out bolts for studs 1 by 1???????
Good or Bad idea????????????

I think you risk compromising the head gasket and at worst warping the heads. I am not an expert but if you are going to go thru the trouble of getting to the head bolts, you might as well go the extra step and replace the head gaskets with upgraded aftermarket ones. Just my .02.

Sorry didnt say the dealer is fixing everything but with the stock head bolts. So if I take the truck around the block to another mechanic and then have the studs put in 1 by 1 everthing will be new...

Yep. I'm not a big advocated of 1 by 1 even when the owner doesn't think he has ever had problems with the heads. However, I think it's a big no-no when the owner is doing it, because he has had issues. If you are doing ARPs, because they need to be done. Then it needs to be done all the way the first time. If not, you could be tearing back in there before you know it. This is something that you want to do only once. ARPs work, but they only work if the install is good.
