Hey guys had my truck for 2 years with no incident then last weekend after a fresh wash for the truck when backing out of my driveway i backed into my landscapers landscape trailer... nothing major except a dented chrome bumper cover on driver side. Went to see adjuster they gave me an estimate of 531 minus a $51 dollar collision deductable. So I have 480.00 bucks to play with. I can just get stock bumper fixed for $51. Or I was strongly considering a ranch hand bumper either the Horizon series ($1400) or the tried and true legend series ($700). Never been a fan of the farm truck bumper look so I was leaning towards the horizon but the price had me concerned especially since it seems the horizon series lacks strength compared to the legend. Normally I would probably just get the horizon series and be done but i just got done putting new 295/65/20 nitto ridge grapplers, Carli back country level kit and air- lift rear bags and wireless compressor so over the last few weeks i dropped 6.5k on the truck so was not excited about doing another 1k on new bumper I was not planning on but I hate to waist the insurance money on the weak stock bumper. Anyone have experience with these bumpers or have other suggestions. In order of importance for me is safety, looks, cost. Let me know your thoughts.
My local truck outfitter recommended fab four as an alternative to ranch hand and said they are similarly priced and have similar build quality. Are they US made? I really like that ranch hands are built in USA and texas. Love supporting local businesses.
I just put the Frontier Sport rear on mine. Can try to get a pick later but looks just like the one on their website. Built in Texas. Owned by an Aggie. Can't go wrong.
Probably about $500-600. Can't remember exactly as I bought it with the front bumper as well.

I think I'm going with the Road Armor. For me, it looks the best...
Yes I was as well they are 20 minutes from my house in Farmers Branch however, my installer has had some finish issues in the not too distant past so just as much as I thought about the whole "Texas" thing just let it go. They do make some nice looking rear bumpers but the FabFour is one heavy Duty one piece beast.

Thanks for the info on the finish issues. I'll probably order it bare and have my buddy paint it to match my truck, so that's no worry for me.
I am too picky when it comes to bumpers....always have been. Most look like an afterthought to me, and not as a design compliment to the truck it's on.
Road Armor, Iron Cross and another brand I can't recall all have had finish/coating issues. Seems to be a prep issue with all of them as the coating flakes off early on and rusts. Outside of that they all look really good on the trucks I've seen them on.
Self prepping would address any issues with that so you should be good to go.
I ran Fab Four bumpers on the front and rear of my Duramax for the last 3 1/2 years with zero issues. They looked as good the day I sold it as they did the day I had them installed. Front bumper survived a deer impact at 75 with the only damage being a cracked plastic ring around the foglight/turn signal that Fab Four replaced for free. That one accident easily paid for the cost of both front and rear bumpers and is why I will add them to my SD sooner than later. Cheap insurance plus they look fantastic on these trucks!
