Cut/Chop/Shorten Rear Bumper on 2014 F350

I'd like to reduce the width of the rear bumper for some additional lateral clearance. The stock ford bumper sticks out about 6 inches from the bodywork, I'd like to at least cut that down in half. Is it possible to do this? If so, how should I go about cutting the bumper down?

Please keep in mind that I haven't looked at the bumper in detail yet, so I have no clue if this is actually possible. I didn't find any threads on people doing this...hopefully someone can give me some more insight.

Couple of other things:

Is it legal to run without a bumper (or should I say bumper cover)? I'm in Maryland.

Do I have any options for prerunner style bumpers or bumper bars?

Yes it is possible to narrow & tuck in a bumper....... it requires a little more text than what is easy, if you check out any of the car builder shows, they seem to do it all the time...should be easy to locate a vid.

The rest, probably state specific but in most of the west & east coast, it's a citation to drive with out a rear bumper

Any thing can be done given enough time & money!
Who will be doing the work you or a shop?
Either way I would pick up a JY one and work it over then when done do a swap.

So if I have an early truck, rear bumpers were an option and a lot did not buy that option, I would get a citation?
I think my 81 was rear bumper option and almost sure it was on the flare side truck as you see a lot with out one.

I know there is a range of how high/low the lights front/rear can be and on front bumpers but never heard anything on rear bumpers.

Best thing to do is call or stop by the DMV or safety inspection station and see what they say.

I'm trying to figure out if this stillen roll pan would work: https://www.stillen.com/stillen-2008...n-ka4828.html#

It says up to 2013...but I got a 2014. I didn't think there were any differences between 2013 and 2014. Stillen told me to call ford and ask, and i doubt any ford rep is gonna be able to tell me (stillen should know this stuff)

Anyone know if this bumper would fit?
