It can be done in some cases. It's the access to the bolts that holds things up and the one ear at the back side.
One issue you will run into is getting the coolant connection passage mated up in the front and the seal plate on
on the underside of the intake. The up side to removing it is you can clean all the goo out of it . Also be sure to
put the EGR valve back in. The PCM needs the silly thing to make the cooling fan work and it won't hurt anything.
If it has the round cooler and not the square one.
You don't need to worry as much about it failing like the square ones do.
The BPD cooler is based on the early round tube and hell cooler that seem
to hold up quite well.
