6.2L Stalling

My 2012 f250 w/6.2 has developed a stalling issue when cold. When I start the truck up for the first time, it runs for a few mins and then when the idle drops down, it stalls out. It will restart with nonproblems. If I go to put it in drive, it stalls. If I keep my foot on the gas, I can keep it moving. I can then drive it a like normal, but when I go to stop for the first time, the truck stalls. When it stalls it will restart easily, but when I go to restart it, it will stall again.

My truck only has 50,000 miles on it. I pulled some codes that talked about cam shaft sensor on the passenger side. I put in a new one and no difference.

Anybody got any ideas before I ship it off to the dealership?

.
vacuum leak.... check all the rubber hoses... for a small crack at the ends of the hoses... or at sharp bends.

It could be the air intake leaking or it has come loose. Mine did that when I changed the air filter. I didn’t realize I had pulled it enough for it to come off.

I still havent found any solutions. Ive searched all over the internet with no luck of finding someone with a similar situation. Once the truck is done with high idle, it quites. U can keep it going by staying on the throttle.... if you keep driving it, eventually it idles on its own and stays running after about 20 mins.

I was going to try changing the pcv to see if that was the culprit. Still getting P0394 and P0369 codes every now and then when trying to mess with. My truck only has 50,000 miles on it, but i feel that time has caught up to it. Looking under the hood at some of the rusted hardware really upsets me.

Im hesitant to bring it to the dealer because i dont want them just throwing parts at it, at my expense.

Do the cam position sensors that i replaced, need to be re-learned by the computer?

Have you tried something simple and disconnect the battery for a few minutes to give the whole system a hard boot to set the computer back to learning everything all over agian.

Just thinking out loud, but if it's a Flex Fuel 6.2L it could need a update from dealer. Wouldn't hurt to have your VIN checked for any updates.

Yes, there was a thread on this not to long ago from someone in I believe Germany, having issues after swapping in a new cam sensor. I believe the dealer has to program the computer for the new cam sensor.

Well the reflash didnt fix the issue. It stalled on my way home. I brought the truck back to the dealer a few days later. The truck has now been at the dealer for 2 weeks. They claim that everything was working electrically. They were then waiting to get it over to the technician who tears into the engines at the dealership. Apprently they there is a internal problem. Not sure if they are giving me a bs response on having a different guy for the engine repairs?

Again, its a 2012 with only 50,000 miles on it of light plowing and light towing. I havent noticed any performance changes. I pull a 20' enclosed trailer loaded with 2 mowers, once a week. Thats the hardest workout that it gets.

I had a stalling issue with my 2012 F250 6.2 at around 38K. Turned out to be the canister purge valve.

Wellllll turns out after the dealer having the truck since before thanksgiving, they finally came found the problem. Supposedly the torque converter is going bad which is causing the stalling issue.

dealership gave me 2 options:

1. $3500 to replace the torque converter and hope fragments from the converter didnt damage the tranny

2. $6100 for a new tranny

I told them to put it back together. In going to bring it to a very reputable transmission shop in the area. When i called the transmission shop, the guy gave me the time of day to explain some stuff and was very interested in Figuring out what is really messed up. Once my truck is ready at the dealer, im going to pick it up and bring it right to the transmission shop.

I will let you guys know how I make out.

Well, that's an expensive situation potentially. But, it makes sense that a bad converter would cause your stall. Good luck to you. Let us all know how it turns out.

Years ago I was a outboard motor mechanic, I'd always see engines someone brought in, that another shop had rebuilt the powerhead ( crank/pistons etc) only to find the real issue was a siezed up lower unit.. I'd think if torque converter was locking up, you feel dragging/engine slowing down. Did you check trans fluid by chance, check for burnt smell.

Waiting to get the truck back. New torque converter, rebuilt tranny, tranny cooler lines, tranny pan and a few other things that I knew about. Waiting on the computer to be reflashed for the tranny.

Due to money reasons, they didnt start work till the end of Janurary. I had the owner personally show me the bad parts. At the same time he had a 2015 f350 powerstroke, with the same issue as my truck. That guy had 70k in his truck.

The owner says he see's this problem with these torque converters. This guy is a strait shooter. Just because nobody has had this same issue on the forum, doesnt mean that its uncommon. These torque converters are very expensive as well compared to others.
