The truck would stall out when coming to a stop.

I honestly did not check it as I though it was engine related. I was barking up the wrong tree lol.

Given this is a 2012 model, I presume it's the 6R140 trans/converter you have? TCs can fail, but they typically are a long lived item.
Please keep us informed how it ends up and treats you after the rework.

Yes it is the 6R140

I honestly feel that it was a fluke thing for me. Im sure TC go bad like you said, but luckily it isnt too common. I work for a municipality and we own over 100 f250/350's with that same tranny. These trucks are high mileage, but arent used for much towing and I havent heard of them having issues.

Update:

i got the truck back yesterday. No more stalking and its shifting better than before. The torque converter was the culprit.

Just to recap, the repair shop installed a new torque converter, rebuilt the tranny, replaced my tranny cooler lines, flushed out the tranny cooler and replaced the tranny pan. Salt kills everything here in the northeast.

Once they had all that work done, they couldnt get the pcm to reflash. They brought the truck to the dealer and they had the same issue. The repair shop takes the truck back to their place, starts checking all the electrical connections and grounds. After that work was done, back to the dealer it went and surprise surprise, it still had the same issue. After some more diagnosis, the repair shop owner said that something is wrong with the pcm. The repair shop located me a used pcm and sure enough that fixed the issue. They had to drop the tranny pan and get the serial nimbers off all the solenoids in the tranny.

Little did I know, The owner of the repair shop is good friends with one of my good friends lol. He cut me a break on the extra repair work. They had a ton of hours racked up with my truck. I was getting nervouse with the repair bill, but the owner reassured me we would work out something fare.

Once the truck was put back together it was over a month before i was finally able to take the truck home. Its been a roller coaster ride from the beginning to the end. I havent had my truck since the end of november. Thank god for my best friend letting me use his truck when I need 4 wheel drive for the snow.

I am having the same issues with my 2011 6.2. Waa it the PCM or the torque converter that fixed your issues ?

Interesting. I noticed my '11 6R140 has some paper stickers on the right side around bellhousing with SOL numbers and SOL STRATEGY identifiers. I was thinking these would be good things to jot down 'cause those stickers won't last forever.

Of course if the tranny's been rebuilt all the factory data doesn't mean much anyhow...

My truck only has 50,000 miles on it. I pulled some codes that talked about cam shaft sensor on the passenger side. I put in a new one and no difference.

Anybody got any ideas before I ship it off to the dealership?
my 2012 is also stalling. starts at 165 temp when the idle drops. it will stall 3 times until temp hits 168 then it's fine for the rest of the day it wont stall again until it has sat for at least 8 hours

Hey this sounds similar to my issue as well. It will do it even when it’s in park. Truck doesn’t even have to be in drive but it’s does also happen when I’m at a stop light. Once it’s warmed up the truck won’t stall or die on me anymore. Have you figured out the issue? I’m hearing torque converter but I’m finding that hard to believe given that it even does it while it’s in park after about 3-5 mins. I do have the same code though on both cam shaft sensors and I have replaced those. Did do the relearn on the cam sensors but have not done the pcm relearn.

Please any help hear would be awesome as the truck is at the shop right now and they can’t seem to find the issue.

6.2 stalling

reprogramming ocu wont help my stalling got worse. it would stall 20 plus times until warmed up. I had a friend who knew someone who worked at for say it was the torque converter. when the engine stalls it throws the cam codes. I tried many things and no change. I went on ebay and found another trans and torque converter for $800 with 25k miles less than what's on my truck. it's at a friends shop now getting put in. it then has to go to ford to get reprogrammed. ford wants $1100 just for the torque converter. most times when the converter goes bad it damages the front of the transmission. i hope to have a update in a few weeks.. I wish I could get rid of this po

This really grinds my gears. All the money I just put into it which definitely needed to be fixed but I could have at-least prioritized the problem. Ughhhhhhhh let me contact the mechanic !

Yeah the owner at the shop is trying to convince me it’s the throttle body. I had already taken that out and cleaned it but it is electrical so it’s really hard to tell. I just don’t want to spend 600-700 to replace a throttle body for it not to be that and it seems like those electric throttle bodies are hard to come by.

Are you sure it's not the AIC (automatic idle control).

I would not disregard anything right now. I’m just praying and hoping it’s not the trans problem. I will do a little investigation on the AIC later on today I’ve just told the mechanic shop I’ll pay what has been done already.
