Not to thread jack but reading some of these replies have me wondering. I very RARELY used 4WD. Maybe 10 times a year when I am pulling my boat off of the ramp. My question is, when I pull out, sometimes it does feel like it binds when I turn. I am not sure why.
How do I know if the manual hubs are locked or not? Do I need to turn them to the right or turn them to the left? When driving in normal 2wd, should they be unlocked?
They bind because you are making a turn, the inner hub is spinning less that the outer hub. Its just how 4x4 works.
Go take a look at your hubs, it will say Lock or Auto. Just flip them both to Auto and you never have to worry about them again.
Gotta pull the wheels off to check but will do that when I get home! Thanks Tricon!
You should have caps over the hubs, haven't seen a wheel in a long while without a removable hub cap. Just pop those off and you'll see the hub switch.
Even with your 'keyed' start, you still have push button. Put you key in the ignition, turn to the run position (one click before hitting the starter), then flick it to the start position and release immediately. The truck will crank, until it starts, just as the push buttons do. I found this out, when I blew a fuse to the fuel pump on my expedition I had before the F250.
True, and most vehicles have been this way for quite some time now...but they physical key still removes the complexity of a proximity key system with antennas to determine if the key fob is actually in the vehicle, etc.

My last KMC rims the cap came off from the inside so the wheel had to be pulled off. Figured this was the same. I will try to pop it off right now.

Caps popped right off. Both were already in auto. Thanks for the heads up!
