Truck fire
OP, I'm certainly happy to hear that the only loss was material. While those things can be replaced, I'm certainly sorry for that loss.
However, if you take a big step back and look at your OP from the forum's perspective, hopefully you can see how your OP leads folks to believe you are ready to discuss the event. You took the time to register on the forum. You took the time to post and add a pic. It's not unreasonable to draw conclusions that you had already attended to the more important matters prior to your holistically insignificant forum post as compared to your total-loss truck fire.
Handling as you did, smells of troll. Ford and Ram guys do it to GM guys. Ford and GM guys do it to Ram guys. And yes, Ram and GM guys do it to Ford guys. It's the nature of this media, so cut the forum some slack when you garner attention, whether it's the attention you desired, or not.
Again, sorry for your loss. But please keep the forum updated as you run the traps on this and hopefully identify the root cause of the fire. Best wishes to you and yours, sir.
OP: sucks terribly. Smart to get back and be safe. I had a drilling platform burn up at my place and despite the truck it was mounted to looking fine, the truck had to be totaled out because the heat ruined the heat treating and strength of the frame and suspension on the chassis. Just a thought that your trailer May look alright but may have structural damage from the heat...
I think these trucks burn very easy once the fire starts due to the amount and type of materials that they use now. No fire extinguisher's would put these out now. Certainly best to get far away from the fire.
For your edification I just lost my truck to this fire {not a picture I found on line} and I have had things I needed to deal with. I lost several thousand dollars of clothing, watches, computers tools fuel etc... So forgive me if I was dealing with other issues and my family and not replying to this thread.
For others there were no injuries just my pocketbook. I stopped a a rest area on I-55 in Mississippi and went to the restroom. I left the truck running and when I returned the cab was filling up with smoke. The smoke was a light grayish brown color and it smelled electrical. The smoke was coming out of the vents in the cab and out of the grate in front of the windshield around the windshield wipers. I turned off the engine opened the hood saw no evidence of smoke the "B" pillars were not hot nor was the floor under the mats. To stave off comments it only took me seconds to check these things.
Very quickly fire erupted from the dash and then the floorboards. I pulled out a few things but the fire just exploded and I got away soon things started to explode like batteries oil filters and with over 120 gallons of fuel I got way back.
The Al skin started vaporizing within just a few minutes and in 20 minutes it was just leaving the frame drivetrain bumpers and aux tank.
I am just trying to find out if anyone knows of this happening to other trucks, I have heard rumors of this happening to 2015 & 2016 but nothing solid.
The only post on this forum that comes to mind as a potential cause for your fire (no fire or smoke was reported in that post) was a member here that spent a lot of time tracing out a variety of electrical gremlins that he was having with his truck. At the time other members were reporting issues with the main harness connectors in the rear of the truck near the spare tire. This particular member eliminated that as a potential cause but later found a defective connection.
The defective electrical connection was in the dash behind the control center. Once he repaired that connector his gremlins were gone as I recall. I will try to find this thread and link to it if found. It must have been a year ago.
See post 24 for a picture of the dash connector. Again no fire was reported with this thread.
Here is another thread discussing electrical gremlins.... 2017 Superduty - Major Electronic Issues
No fire here either and not traced to the dash area either.
Good luck, sorry for your loss.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I agree with the previous poster that you should limit your posts until you sort things out with insurance and such. I'm sure I speak for a lot of folks on the forum that we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers...Let us know how things work out and if you possibly find out a root cause.
The fire was in the dash. near the glove box.
It was about 2 years ago. My best guest of year of truck is 2015 or 2016.

What year was your truck?
