I hate those warning lables too, they drive me nuts. But from teh videos I've seen online of people removing them, none of them seem to come off clean. They at least leave a mark where they were.
I think if they bug you that much you will have better luck having them recovered rather than trying to remove them. That said if your gonna cover them may as well give removal a shot first.
I agree - pretty ugly and doesn't make my truck any safer.
On my 2002 Avalanche, I found some nice stick-on covers that had the Avalanche emblem in muted colors - much better than the bright yellow warning labels from the factory.
If you google "sun visor warning label covers" you will find many options available on e-bay, amazon, etc. Most are pretty cheep ($10-15 / pair.
Probably better solution than trying to remove (or if you try to remove and the result is not good, you could cover the residue).
Thanks guys - I'll leave it alone as I don't want to deal with recovering or looking at a blemish I created. I only noticed them when I was sitting in my office (aka truck) during a long conference call.
I peeled them off of my last Ram truck with good results. I picked at the corner of the one on my Ford and noticed it was stuck on there a lot better than the Ram's. I have a feeling it will either rip the fabric or leave behind a mess. Maybe a heatgun will help...
I'm going to stop by an upholstery shop someday soon and see how much it will be to have them redone before I start peeling.
I can't stand these things, removed one, used a heat gun and acetone to dissolve the glue, still left a faint mark. Covering them seems to be the best solution.
So I have had a 17 and now a 18 and a friends 17, removed all the visor stickers. On my first attempt I did leave a couple of blemishes because I used my pocket knife to help lift the edges. on the other 2 I just used my finger nail to lift the edges just have to be patient and support the fabric as you pull it off. After the decals are removed there will be a glue residue left over from removing them. To clean the residue I used a clean rag to help rub the residue off it will take a little effort. I do not know if the residue will come off completely on the black for the platinum an so. I'll post pic's tomorrow if you like
