Steering wheel and alignment

Been gradually taking care of things on this new to me 1994 F150. When I purchased there was a ton of play in the steering wheel and the steering wheel was not dead center when going straight. I replaced the steering box and that tightened up the steering, but the steering wheel is still at about 10 o'clock when going straight. To fix this do I need to take off the steering wheel which would also give me a chance to do a job (clock gear to fix horn and CC) I am dreading or is an alignment what I need?

If tracking and tire wear are good, you'll want to turn the tie rod adjusting sleaves equal amounts to get the wheel centered. It won't take much. Lengthen the driver side and shorten the passenger.

Oh didn't know that I could maybe do this myself. So I wouldn't adjust the steering link but instead the tie rods?

There's only two adjusting sleaves on a ttb front end: left and right. "Steering link" is a somewhat generic term so I don't follow what you mean. The sleaves are used to set toe, and steering wheel alignment. If camber and caster are good, toe is easy to set as long as you have a flat driveway and tape measure. But if the toe is okay now and all you need to do is center the wheel, then carefully turning both sleaves the same amount can be done. Mark their initial setting. I can't remember what direction to turn them, just look close at the thread to figure out how to lengthen one and shorten the other side. I'd go 1/8 turn on each sleave and see where the wheel ends up (road test), then more if needed.

Okay yes I understand now. On a previous vehicle there was an adjustment you could make on the connector that went from the Pitman arm down to the right wheel.
I see now the two adjustment sleaves and looks like they will need a good soak with pb blaster.

This is my F150. Kind of a unique color. I don't think I would have purchased it with this color brand new but it's not too bad.
