I am working on a 77 E250 7.5L V8 that needs a new fuel pump. I am trying to avoid switching to an electric pump but I am having trouble finding a mechanical pump for this van. Any suggestions?
The pump that was in it is a Caster M6981 which is discontinued. Im wondering if anyone knows of something that could take its place. Holley has a mechanical one but it looks vastly different than what I pulled out of the van so Im a bit hesitant to purchase it.

Right, but what you always want to start with is the Ford OEM part number. Then, can search from that point for either NOS, NORS, or aftermarket equivalent cross. See where I'm goin' with that? I "assume" the Carter is an aftermarket replacement. It's even possible therefore, that it ain't even really the right one. Does sure look like it's discontinued though.

Don't worry too much about looks. Just find the right OEM #, Carter or Airtex makes something that will work, or there is NOS on the shelf somewhere...
