Maybe it is just 2018 Lariats that work. Dont know what to tell ya.

Nope. My 2017 XLT Premium did it also. I had 2 trailers programmed in, mostly to monitor tire miles on one that had brand new tires. Even when the trailer was unplugged, I'd get the trailer screen upon startup and would have select "no trailer" or whatever the option was.
My 2014 and 2016 F250's did not do this. In then end I got sick of playing with that menu every time I started the truck so I deleted all trailers. Now when I unplug a trailer, I have the screen that I normally view in front of me.
It is not clear to me that everyone on this thread is on the same page.
My theory is some on this thread are not selecting the right option.
This is how you get everything back to normal....
OK to access Initial Trailer section
OK to Trailer Options (3rd option down, NOT trailer status)
OK to Select Trailer
OK to No active trailer
FWIW I have a 18 STX w/ Sync 3 and the small dash screen.
It is kind of annoying to do this after pulling but takes me probably 3 seconds - first world type problems.

I am with you here. Nearly positive it is operator error.. It was originally for me too.
Once the others figure out the correct screen, it should work. It is confusing, but it will work. If it is working for some, there is no way it is not going to work for others with the same truck and system. As for the dealer...dont get me started there.

I have the same experience as the two above. The first few times I towed, I was annoyed and thought it was a defect. Now I do the above, and have no issues.

It's a minor inconvenience to be sure, but one I don't want to deal with. I don't feel like scrolling through a menu all the time, especially when combined with the new SYNC update where I never know which mode the stereo will be in at startup. I just want to turn the key and drive away without going through a checklist.
Poncho...
Are u saying that u think going thru the menu to disable the trailer only after u unhook it is way to much work and considered "all the time?" If thats the case, maybe a chauffeur is a better option.
It is not all the time... Only once after initial unhooking and disabling the current trailer.
Damn, this must be so much more confusing than I once thought.

Maybe I wasn't clear, or I am not understanding everyone here. When I unhook from my trailer, I don't have the towing screen, but I am talking about when I am hooked to my trailer. Everytime I start it up, it goes back to the towing screen, if I am pulling my 12' lowboy, I couldn't care less about the towing screen, I want it to stick to my default. Is there a way to disable that when the trailer is hooked up?
Not that I've seen so far. However, I'm generally jumping around in screens as I drive anyways. I'd love to be able to make a custom screen with pick and choose information from the other screens. Like, it'd be great if I can show the truck's TPMS, the trailer's TPMS, and current MPG all in one screen. Right now I have to jump around to 3 different screens to get those 3 different pieces of information. 4 when I'm curious about the current pitch of a grade.
Brandon, I dont think so. Once u hook up the trailer brakes, it will default to trailer screen.
As for the multi screens... on the far left screen series (on a 2018 anyway) there is a custom screen option. Lets u list 4 of ur favs. U do have to scroll vertically to get to each one but it is way better than hunting each original screen location.

Yeah, I know about the MyView, but it doesn't seem to let me pick the Trailer TPMS screens. So I can only insert 2 of the 3 pieces of information, and to get back and forth between them and the trailering screens, you have to jump past the Trip/Fuel and Truck Info screens anyways.
I'm fairly certain that if you have a trailer hooked up to the truck it will always default to the tow screen on initial start up. I don't mind that as I have 3 different trailers programmed into the truck so its a nice way to verify what trailer I'm towing and brake settings, which are different between all 3 of my trailers.
What was annoying to me, until I figured it out, was that even with the trailer disconnected it would accumulate miles. But I figured out that if I disconnected with the truck running it would recognize that the trailer was removed and if I acknowledged that the trailer was disconnected I don't have to do anything else. If I don't get to the truck in time and the trailer disconnected screen is gone I just have to go to the tow menu and select no active trailer. Again not a big deal once I figured it all out.
I came from an 06, so I cant speak for the newer trucks as to what does or does not happen, my old truck only knew if the trailer was or was not connected, and sometimes it would say it was disconnected when in fact it was connected and the brakes and lights worked normally.
I just figured that out as well - if the tow screen comes up it thinks there is a trailer there and I had to select no active trailer to stop accumulating miles.
