dash problem

ON my 2017 f350 dash there is a problem. When a trailer is entered into memory, the dash display will go to "towing status" even when there is no trailer attached. The dealer is clueless on how to solve this. The only way to have the dash go to where I want it on startup(digital speedo), is to delete the trailer in memory. anyone else have this problem?

This has been discussed quite a bit. Im not sure how the truck is smart enough to know the trailer is there, but not when it is disconnected. When you are done towing you have to go into the trailer menu and select "no active trailer". Once you do this, it will not default to the trailer tow screen any more.

This is a bug that affects some trucks and not others. No commonality found yet that I've heard but Seastacker is right. You don't have to delete the trailer all together, just select "No Active Trailer" from the towing information screen when you are no longer towing. If you don't do that, the truck will think the trailer is still attached and will accumulate miles on that trailer's setup.

Probably when the trailer electrical harness is plugged in.

exoilfld, my truck behaves as you describe. As Epic and Seastacker mention, this annoyance has been discussed at length some months ago. I think Epic's truck does not behave the way yours and mine do, but I agree it is annoying. Although you can select "no active trailer," an additional annoyance is that you cannot do it while the truck is moving. I thought it would be a nice way to keep track of miles on a trailer, but I gave up on that long ago. I've also pretty much given up on changing the dash screen to something else like fuel economy...just leave it forever on the dumb towing screen.

I will say the automatic checking of your trailer light bulbs and notifying you if a trailer light is out is simply amazing.

I agree it is just one more step to go in and select "no active trailer" after you unhook but I have gotten used to it. I mainly like it for knowing how many miles I have pulled a specific trailer. Even with my slide in truck camper, I had to add it as a trailer even though I am not technically pulling it because when I plug my 7-way in from the truck to the camper it thinks I am hauling a trailer. But, I will be able to tell how many miles overall I travel when I have my camper on the truck.
What I can't do is pick two trailers at one time I don't think. So, when I have my camper on board and am also hauling my trailer I think I have to pick one or the other, but not both.

I have done what y'all said and it seems to do the trick. I will see how it behaves after a pull one of my trailers and then disconnect. It is just too hot to do it for a trial run right now. Thanks everyone.

When I connect TT the truck recognizes it and goes to my set up for it. When I disconnect the trailer I have to go back in and choose "No Active Trailer" or it will keep racking up miles as if the trailer is there.

My truck is the same way. I didnt know about going back in and picking no active trailer. I just deleted my trailer like you did. Maybe Forscan can fix this?
