We are on I-90 in Wyoming and my 2015 F350 Powerstroke 6.7 diesel made a noise almost like a whoopee cushion. And the Turbo gauge went to zero. We were able to limp in to Gillette Wyoming and have spoken with the Ford dealer. Tow truck is on the way for truck and to move my camper to a campground. Any ideas what might have blown?
The CAC...cold air tube going from the inter cooler to the intake. It should be covered under warranty. Many of us have replaced the stock CAC with an aftermarket setup. I replaced mine before I had any problems with one from Rudy's Diesel. The cost was about $150 shipped and taking my time, it took about two hours to install. Was not difficult. Here is a write up i made on installing it. It can apply to other brands also.
The problem was the clamp on the downpipe. A really nice young man who lives in Gillette Wyoming stopped to see if he could help. He took a look and diagnose the problem immediately. Then left to go and get a new clamp which he installed. We were able to make it half mile to the campground and the Ford dealer is right across the street. The DIC is calling for a Regen and the codes will have to be cleared. Hopefully the Ford garage will be able to help me out in the morning.
Thank thank the good Lord that there are still good people out there and, a youngster that, who are willing to stop along the road and help others out.
