Hello fellow members, hoping someone could help me with a question that I have regarding my plan. My dealer has told me that they are only allowed to add a specific amount of DEF when I bring the vehicle in for an oil change. This amount being 1 or 2 gallons. I call BS. Calling the number on the ford protect website is a joke. I did manage to get a representative from Ford ESP who informed me that the DEF is to be filled while the vehicle is there for service. Filling the tans means whether it needs 1 gal or 7 gallons. I asked if he could email me documentation on this and he said that it should be outlined in my terms and agreement that I was given when I bought the truck and the plan. Unfortunately those papers are in storage and not readily available to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the PMP too and the dealer fills however much it takes to fill it up. The DEF typically coincides with oil changes, but they topped mine off anyway when it was low and gave me the leftover 90% full jug to bring home. Sounds pretty nickle and dimey of them to hassle you
Not trying to hijack the thread but how about in regards to a normal oil change without any maintenance plan. I have read where several people have commented that their dealer filled the DEF tank. I just had my first oil change and the dealer did not fill my DEF tank.....

That is a nice gesture by the dealer but not a requirement.
I bough t an extended warranty on my SRW. Looking to go DRW soon. Wondering if a plan like this is worth it on a DRW. I assume tire rotations are more expensive on a DRW is why I wonder. And OP, can you give me an idea of what that plan cost and its length?
Definitely should be filling up DEF whenever your in for any service. No limit on the amount. Even when in for other things, they should be topping DEF. did you buy your truck at this dealer and the service package? Talk to their service manager, find out what they are thinking, if you have another dealer close enough, that may be a better option.
For those that purchased the Premium Maintenance Plan, how are you liking it? Is it worth it? Anything you finding the dealer is not covering you would expect they should be?
The up front cost is more but seems to be worth it in the long run. Outside of the cost, this is my first diesel and I feel having the dealership do the routine maintenance will help with finding anything that may not be normal. I also feel that if I do the maintenance myself and my record keeping is not spotless, Ford could try to deny any warranty claims.
Chances are there is a limit to how much they'll add. If the contract says "Fill" when it's there for service, it should be filled or topped off each time. Personally, unless you just don't mind paying for the convenience of NOT having to pay out of pocket at the time of service, I'd cancel the maintenance plan. If you add up what they do for you, then compare it to the total price you paid for the plan, you'll probably find out you way over paid.

I appreciate any inputs.
at retail it isnt worth it but when you can get the maintenance plans at cost like ESPs.. it is a good deal.
Not going to look up the cost of DEF, but for the sake of argument, a 2.5 gallon jug of it at retail is $10, and you need 2.5 gallons every 5k miles. So at $0.002 per gallon, I'd tell them to take their dealership and stick it where the sun don't shine. And I don't know, but I would bet you a jug of DEF they probably get it for pennies on the dollar compared to retail. What a bunch of cheap **** ****. I have no words that aren't too colorful.
