Time for new tires

I had previously been running the Nitto G2's with 35k miles plus i have maybe one more summer season on them but feel that I may have issues this winter. The truck primarily sees hwy usage with the occasional mountain excursion but nothing major. Im looking at the Cooper Discover AT3's, does anyone have any experience with this tire both in the snow/ice and out on gravel roads and such? my other choice is the BFG K02, i am just thinking it may be to aggressive come summer time and while towing our travel trailer.

Looking at a 285/75r17

thanks
Travis

I had the BFG KO2 on mine when it was stolen a few months ago. I had 26k miles on them and maybe had 5k more miles before they would have been replaced. I think they drove fine on the hwy, not much road noise, and fine pulling the travel trailer. I just think they should have been able to go a few more miles.

I love my Cooper AT3 tires. No snow or ice here but plenty of dirt and gravel roads and they do well.

I will never own another bfg due to how they treated me.

I had a set of the AT3s on the Jeep. Did much better than whatever Michelin P-metric SUV "A/T" tire was on it before. Wife got stuck on pavement in a little depression leaving the gas station in an inch of snow over light ice with the old ones - with the Coopers she never had that problem again. They wore awesome compared to the P-metrics. Solid overall tire IMO, did well in the construction zone messes we had to deal with - wet sandy silt crap over pavement, standing water, gravel and dirt once it dried up.

Not on your list but the Michelin Defender LTX is a great tire on the truck, if you're mainly highway with just a little "country road" and not really "off road" thrown in.

I have the K02's. New last year from PO. the rear tires are worn down to half the tread of the front. The psi was at 70 on the rear so I dropped it down to 55. They ride good but the wear is unacceptable, not even 10000 on them.

A friend went w/ the General Grabber ATX. Who knows how they will perform and their thread wear life. Seem to have good reviews though.

I ran 3 sets of Toyo All-Terrains and loved them. They ran great on the highway and I had them up in the mountains in the snow- ran great! I have zero regrets in fact of all my trucks they are by far my favorite tires. Now I wanted the more aggressive look and I almost went with their MT tires. I opted instead for the RT's. I wasn't sure until I saw them on the truck and sold. Time will tell but I don't expect anything less than what Toyo has given me before a great set of tires. My .02 cents.

Toyo open country AT. Great grip off-road, lasted over 60k miles, wet weather on-Road grip got a bit exciting at the end though.

3rd Michelin Defender LTX. Mostly on road towing, some desert with towing the jeep, but mostly dirt roads and hard pack.

I'll be the whipping boy here...
I absolutely hated the noise and wear pattern of my Nitto Grappler a/t. They looked good parked. Snow performance was good, wet performance was borderline terrible. Dry was very noisy!

This summer I bought all season tires from Sumitomo. Their almost noiseless and are on Tire Rack at 4.8 out of 5 stars.

I cannot say for their snow since I'm about 90 days from that nonsense but their wet performance has been very good.

The best tires I've had have been between BF Goodrich and Pirelli but in 275/65/20 those prices were too high for my current financial situation. They landed at $1000 installed

Best bang for the buck is by far the Cooper AT3 I have them on both of my trucks. I get hi mileage out of them and are great in all weather. Best part is the price.
