Edge, let me know what sort of puller you use when doing this. My clock spring is going to get replaced this winter because it is creaking and making noise at full lock since I blew the top off the steering gear in February of 2017. I was mid turn and was not sure where "center" was for the wheel after getting stopped safely and chocking the truck.
Anyway, I am subscribed and will be looking forward to what brand clock spring you use and what type of puller you use.
Sous I would recommend removing the in cab pinch bolt on the colum and unwinding the clock spring a little. A couple adjustments may be neseccary I did a couple test drives before locking it back in on mine with red locktite.
Just installed a dorman one. It went right in and was easy to do. The good, my horn works and air bag light is off. The bad, my cruise control still doesnt work.

I had exact problem and found that my 3rd brake light was burned out. This is the one on the back of the cab. It is somehow wired into the cruse control and if the bulb burns out the cruse control won't work.

@565edge , do you have a picture or link to the exact/specific puller you used to remove the wheel from the shaft? Even if it is one you borrowed from a parts store, there should be a link to the part number or image on their site.
As for the cruise control, does your E-brake light work?
I'll check the 3rd brake light and e brake light tomorrow. I rented the tool from autozone. I'll get a few pics tomorrow
Thanks, I would appreciate it. I need to get this done this winter and would love to know some specifics about the puller for the knuckleheads behind the counter at AutoZoo. Normally I have to go in with an image and a page up on their site on my phone when I go in to rent something. You would not believe the trouble I had getting a pitman arm puller that would fit from those goofballs...
O'riely's... well you are better off just trying to go behind the counter and getting the tool yourself. Those guys are worse than AutoZone.
Advance has 1 guy that knows what he is doing, the others just look at you with a blank stare because they are too busy flirting with the 1 female that works in the store.
Napa has some good ole boys that work there, but they don't know much more than what the screen in front of their eyes tells them.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to help me and others out, I look forward to the pictures and any part number or manufacturer information you have about the puller.
I rented the top one then need 1 of the 2 below it. The one I got the arms were to long so I put a socket in the steering wheel for the bolt to tighten against.
All 3 lights up at the 3rd break light were out. I replaced them. 3rd brake light works and now the cargo lights work. I messed with the parking brake switch a little and then check the master cylinder. It has the 2 fuses in line so it must have the ford recall done but for some reason the sensor was unplugged. I plugged it in and took it for a test drive. The cruise control works!
