1. If I pull the shifter into "2" while going too fast, will the transmission wait till the speed is lower before going into 2nd or will it just go into second, or first for that matter, at any speed (4R100)?
2. My overdrive button has started to not work intermittently, seems when it won't work if I push the shift lever forward while pressing the OD button then it will work. It is the same whether shifting into or out of OD.
That's the first thing I though but last month I had the plastic cover off the column to wire in my new mirror turn signals and I inspected the shifter harness and didn't see anything, could've missed it I guess.

Hmmmm, have you checked the switch itself? You can pull it out the end of the shift lever to test continuity when pressed.

No I didn't know that button just pulls out. I was looking online for the complete shift lever with harness but it looks like it is all sold separately....thanks
Thanks Mark. I guess the best way to know when it is safe to shift down into 2nd is see how high the RPMs reach when accelerating in 2nd before redlining and use that speed for your maximum safe downshift speed when descending.
