hi, i have a 97 f250 automatic rwd i am converting to a 4x4 and while the tranny which is the last piece is in the shop getting rebuilt i was looking and wanted to put a 3" downpipe on while the tranny was out I dont know what brand to look at however since the tranny is out if I use a 2 piece down pipe i wanted to weld it toegether instead of using the bulky clamp that takes up too much room, alot of the down pipes say they are aluminized is this something i could weld with a simple gas mig or should i try and get a stainless one so i can weld it as one piece. also do they make a one piece down pipe i could install?
Use a Torca clamp on the downpipe, then it will not leak. You will want to be able to remove the top half for any work on the engine.
Full 4" stainless Diamond Eye kits are about $325 shipped, just do that. Agreed on uppipes, pick your poison there. May as well delete the EBPV valve while in there. It snowballs out of control fast.
