Are most of the downpipes you guys are using 1 or 2 piece. I have a 97 250 and am looking to make some changes to it. I have located a 3" 2 piece and was wondering if it is going to be a good deal.
They will all be two piece, otherwise you'll have to remove the tranny or engine to install them. Check out ours we have a little different bend at the head of our down pipe that makes install a little easier with less firewall interference etc. We have them in aluminized and stainless. We also have the cat test pieps in aluminized and stainless too.
Go Banks young man! They have been doing it the longest and strongest. Call them and tell them exactly what you are going to do with the truck and they will mix a kit just for you. Best bang for the buck, go for the single stage chip they have in the kit. It kicks ***!!
i would have to disagree on the banks stuff. it is great stuff there is no doupt about it but with banks it is more like bang for a million bucks. it is over priced. you can piece your own system together for cheaper.
3" on mine, got it for $79 on ebay, works awesome.
4" would take a BFH and a lot of firewall remodeling to fit..
I have seen some that are 3" around firewall then 4" afterwards.
On a mostly stock truck like mine I didnt think it was worth the extra hassle.
everybody will have a 3 inch because a 4 won't fit without beating your floor in. plus many superduty guys that can install the 4 don't like where it puts the torque curve at. i think it move up a ways so low seems to be gone but really it just moved up.
i have a 2 piece tymar and it starts at 3" then connects to the second piece and goes to 4" . love it. have it finished off with a complete system. before that i had a 3-3.5 tymar dp and cat delete.
