$20 a year in Georgia. We pay our tax’s when we buy a vehicle. It has to be motorized so tt’s are out and we get soaked for that. I really can’t understand the draw to California and some these other states. You guy’s are taking a beating.

The problem is we were born here, and the DW still teaches but when she retires we will be gone I hope.
based on msrp, my tabs new were supposed to be almost 1300 bucks. Washington state has an exemption for trucks weighing over 6000 pounds. My tabs were 157 dollars. I make sure all my those liberal tax loving scum neighbors of mine know how much I pay right after I accidentally park on top of their prius.
Here in Virginia the registration is not bad at all but they hit you with the dreaded personal property tax, which is applicable to most anything from boats to planes to cars and RVs etc. Rates vary by county but can be very substantial.. There is a 40% car tax relief on non business vehicles for the first 20k of value, but if its tagged commercial, which over 10k GVWR it will be, there is no relief. But compared to many other states real estate taxes are low so either way you will pay the man.
Yep! Paying a lil' over $1,400 this year in personal property taxes for my '17 F250 and '06 motorcycle. At least it goes down a tad each year as they depreciate in value. Wife pays her own & I don't know how much it will be for her 2018 Explorer.
Hmm. Having lived in Hibbing, MN from 1988-1993, I recall the cost to register any vehicle 10 years old or older was $35. So the cost to reg your Excursion has doubled, but not tripled. We never had anything newer than 10+ year old vehicle back then, so I wouldn't know how to compare.
My 2017 F-350 dually Lariat Ultimate cost over $1400 to register here in NH where I now live. My current 2017 F-250 XLT cost over a grand the first year; dropped to just under in year two. We do have safety and emissions inspection, but fortunately any vehicle over 8500GVW is exempt from emissions testing. I just got my F-250 inspected today, cost $30.
You couldn't pay me to live in any of the west coast states, despite the beautiful geography.
At 1k a year you probably can't afford to live out here.Based on your comment you wouldn't be welcome anyway.
